Re: DWG TrueView 2019 - technical question

Print using Command Line

We are using AutoView currently in our application to print the DWG files, and we have to use the Command Line option to print the documents by specifying the .ini file and file name to avwin.exe file.

We are switching to use TrueView 2019 and want to check what are the command line options I have to print the document using commands and we don't want the application to open we just want to direct the file to print.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Maximum before hangup

What is the maximum number of files I can convert before DWG Trueview hangs

That depends on your system, not much else.

Experiment and find out.

Thank you for taking the time to post this solution.

I think it's best to do a thousand or less on this VM server. It would be nice to see a document that states how long the process takes given these system specs.

TrueView 2019 Can't change default program for DWG files

When I installed TrueView for this user, I chose the option to not associate DWG files with TrueView. Now that I want to do that, his machine won't let me. I go to the Control Panel, Default Programs, Make a file type always open in a specific program, click on .dwg, change program, Browse, go to Program Files, Autodesk, look for the executable file for dwgviewr, Click Open. But then nothing shows up under the list of Other programs. All I have the option to click on is AutoCAD. This only seems to happen under his Windows profile. When I go the admin profile I can change this with no issues. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing TrueView with no luck. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

You can't: Windows remembers the last dwg-owning program you used and Autodesk chose no to sign up to Microsoft's Default Apps option in Settings.

Get in the habit of starting the program you want to use first, it is the free fix.

Thanks. I ended up having to do a system restore back to before I did the upgrade to 2019, and reinstalled it. This time I had the option to change it to use TrueView for dwg files.

DWG Trueview is not opening inventor dgw files correctly?

I am using Inventor 2019,  Purchasing is using DWG Trueview 2019.

When Purchasing opens  xxx.dwg file created in Inventor, the xxx.dwg file is not correct.

Did you check your DWG file in another dwg-capable software (not Inventor) yourself yet? this may be an Inventor problem and not much else.

Or post that DWG file here.

Appreciate you taking a look.
I did open the file in AutoCAD Mechanical 2019, and it opened correctly showing the missing brackets.
Attached is the file.

Nothing is attached: you have to come to the website and tap the REPLY button to post files and images.

Scaling

When I open a dxf drawing in Trueview it is scaled down 1/4 smaller than when I open it in AutoCAD. Is there a setting I need to change?

They should be one and the same in both programs: can you elaborate, post screenshots, or share your DXF file here?

I'm having a similar issue Files are created with Inv 2019 and the drawings are .dwg format. Some files open and others do not. We do see an error "Errors were detected in the drawing. The file cannot be opened without being recovered" We select "Recover" and absolutely nothing happens and the file opens but it is missing all the geometry.

I suspect that in this case the company is using model and drawing templates that HAVE NOT been migrated to the 2019 data base format, but that does not explain the one file that does open.

Has a workaround or a workflow been discovered that repairs "Recovers" the True View file?

Heck, I'm not sure how to recover a file in True View unless opening it in AC Mech, and cleaning it up in that application.

Thoughts, Ideas?

Thanks

Mike

Most of us stick with DTV2018 due to many issues with DTV2019, you just identified another.

FWIW There is no functionality difference between the two, and no new features added to 2019.

Are you using DTV2019? Try DTV2018 instead, seems to have fewer issues for many users.

Otherwise show me, post a DWG file, explain how I can verify the problem.

TIA

DWG Trueview 2019 not displaying Advance Steel Objects

I am having difficulty getting DWG Trueview 2019 to display Advance Steel objects. I have installed DWG Trueview 2019, and followed by Advance Steel Object Enabler 2019 R1 - both 64-bit versions. When I open drawings, anything created from Advance Steel objects do not show up. Do I have to do any post-installation configuration in order to get Trueview to work with the Object Enabler? Do I need to set up all of the search/file paths under Options-Files?

Thanks
